Fingermark Visualisation Courses

From Lab Trainee to Lab Expert Technician we can provide a course for you.

These courses are designed for chemical treatment laboratory staff working for Police Forces across the UK.  Taking them through the basic techniques of using light and lasers to master more advanced sequential treatments, photography and post capture enhancement.  Additional courses are available to develop their expertise and understanding of using their skills attending crime scenes and being part of the front end of an investigation.

This one-week course on fingermark visualisation, offers a comprehensive and invaluable opportunity for professionals in law enforcement, forensics, and related fields.  This specialised training programme is designed to enhance the skills of individuals involved in fingermark development, providing them with the knowledge and practical techniques that will make them a crucial member of the investigative team.

Through hands-on exercises and interactive sessions, participants can develop a nuanced understanding of fingermark visualisation, enabling them to be competent in their chemical treatment roles.

Moreover, the course leverages the latest advancements in technology and research, as highlighted in the Fingermark Visualisation Manual (2nd edition 2022).  Participants will gain insights into cutting-edge tools and methodologies for fingermark visualisation, staying abreast of the most recent developments in the field.  This not only enhances their proficiency in current techniques but also prepares them to adapt to evolving technologies, ensuring their skills remain relevant and effective in the ever-changing landscape of forensic science.

The Initial Fingermark Visualisation Course is delivered at London South Bank University by Dr Stephen Bleay a proven expert in this field.

Advanced Fingermark Visualisation

This one week course builds on the Initial Visualisation Course.  With photography, theory and practical sessions for the students to build their expertise and understanding.  Further treatments will be talked about and again practical exercise will be undertaken.

Fingermark Visualisation Level 3

This proposed one week course, is underdevelopment, but will explore the use of equipment, alternative light sources and treatments used at crime scenes.  This course will be tailored around what is needed by your Force.  Please contact us to express your interest.
